A Charlie Brown Christmas...

At least the tree was like it. LOL. So our poor fake tree couldn't support our rather large star. It leaned like Charlie Brown's tree did with one ornament. But this year I learned a deeper understanding for the cute little Charlie Brown Christmas special. Why is it you only get part of it until you are grown and then it all sinks in.

I remember waiting for the special to come on and then watching its only showing on network television. Now of course we own a copy on DVD. None-the-less we traditionally watch it.

I tried to lose myself in the spirit of the children's excitement. But instead, I learned that I am not a child anymore. What I remember is lost to the work and preparation to create that excitement for the children.

They are not easily excited as these "special" things are so readily found. And so new traditions must be created and set into motion. Don't ask me what those are yet, but I hope to find some by next year.

On the other hand the spontaneous makes for a great picture! When you can't pass up taking a great shot. So here are the kids, goofing around with Candy Canes while we were decorating the tree.

I apologize for the red eyes. Next to my best defenses, I was unable to completely rid them of them. But Santa brought me a new camera, that should help reduce my problems.
