So we're still in the isolated weekend but it reminded me as I walked to all my errands today that, that was what we did often when we were young in Salt Lake City. Mom would get all of us little people together and brave public view as we rode bus and walked where we needed to go. Or just to get us out of the house. So today while the kids were at school I wandered to Whole Foods and Target and paid a bill. Now I knew I wouldn't spend a lot of money or buy a lot of things since I didn't want to carry it home but it wasn't too bad. Today was a pleasant 80 something degrees.
Although, I had one weird moment and couldn't get my camera fast enough to grab the shot. (yes, thats one thing I carried with me.) I was about 8 blocks from home when I saw a man in full green camo holding a rather large gun like he was patrolling.
Now mind you this is a residential area and he wasn't in front of a house or by a car.
I was distracted by the lady who had just pulled into her driveway and she caught my eye and then asked me if I saw it too. It was nearly comical as two unintroduced lady strangers creep out far enough to peek around the fence at this man. He had disappeared but since she knew I was walking that way she asked me if I wanted a ride home. We got into her car and she took me home after a brief introduction. She said she just moved from Baltimore and was trying to leave that (the guns) there. I assured her that this was an unusual event.
Anyhow I hope I don't see any more people packing heat for a while.... Unfortunately the next few days will be carrying record heat.
