Catching Up

A great big snowman in a close by neighborhood on the way to church.

So I have been a bit neglectful in my blogging duties.... darn Facebook that and the whirlwind life and weather that have made life difficult to sit and think clearly for more than a few minutes. So I come with pictures of the Twilight premiere. I was caught off gaurd by the first showing but then returned and enjoyed it for its cinematical value the second time on date night with my husband.

a comfy Pixie waiting for the movie to start.

Me and Chickadee shortly before midnight.

waiting in line at Cinetopia
Next (sorry no pictures) was Thanksgiving I got it off at the last minute and had a quiet meal at my in-laws. The only real bummer to this was Bookworm had been diagnosed with an ulcer (her doctor said its very usual for this age group) two days before Thanksgiving. This gave us a scramble to help her enjoy all of the holiday fare. She is now healing and tries to tempt us to lighten up on her diet changes. We paid off the car we had wrecked nearly 3 years earlier and discovered an additional amount in an idle savings account set aside for the payment of that car. We promptly bought a TV and Wii for Christmas (for Santa of course, because we live closer to a Costco.)we were certain it would be a slim Christmas otherwise.

Bicycleman lighting the tree. A two day ordeal and 14 strings of lights.
Soon there was the threat of snow and ice, it puttered and petered and the schools weren't sure if they should cancel or stay open in the three days before Winter break. Then on Sunday we got the real deal.

In the beginning, a decent show of snow around here.
We were at church and about an hour and a half into it, they cancel church and send everyone home. From there we watched it snow and snow. When David went to work and I knew that going back and forth from home to the airport might prove difficult with any layers of ice. I packed an overnight bag, booked my out-of-college sister-in-law to hang with the kids and went to the hotel to ensure my arrival at work the next day was a safe one. When I stopped out to my car in the employee lot, the snow drift was at my back bumper. I stayed three days in the hotel and finally borrowed the hotel's shovel to dig my car out and went home with chains on.

The ice that came off from the car.

Roadrunner cuddled up with his Aunt as they listen to Grandpa read the Christmas story.

The girls intensly involved in the ornament find game.
I was flabbergasted at the amount of snow on the ground at my house as it was more than I imagined.

view of the playset in the backyard of my inlaws house

a later view of our house front yard, notice the shoveled sidewalk covered again with new snow.
I was home in time for Christmas, exhausted from all of the excess work at work. Christmas morning brought us plenty of joy and fun as we watched the faces of our children light up with satisfaction to the one or two small gifts they recieved from Mom and Dad.

Its the Wii

giftcard delight

a "dad" special box. Its a carefully altered box to fit around the gift and disguise it.
Our annual gift box from Bakersfield was held up due to the extreme weather conditions. We picked it up today after its arrival yesterday.
Now as we watch the kids play the Wii we enjoy the following video. Roadrunner is really getting into the classic Mario brother's game.
Bookworm also added that "Lougee" is her player. We explained what a lougee is and told her his name is Luigi, but not before laughing hysterically.

I love this post. It had been a awhile and was wondering if FB was going to become your new blog. Thanks for not leaving us hanging.

"Lougee" is pronounced with a soft G as in LooJee, not LooGee...

bossidy: actually, in this instance she pronounced it like she was saying "hock a lougee" (you know that phlegmy spit gunk). We know it is really pronounced Luigi with a hard jee sound. Thats what made it so funny.
